Control Unleashed (Online)

The Control Unleashed® program is based on the books and DVDs by Leslie McDevitt. Originally designed to help agility dogs learn how to relax, focus, and work reliably off-leash, CU uses “conversational” training to build a solid foundation of life skills.

The first half of class will focus on default behaviors that give your dog a repertoire of socially-acceptable methods of engaging with you and others. Through the program you will learn how to understand and empower your dog, and your dog will learn to make good behavioral choices.

The second half of class will focus on pattern games to help your dog translate unfamiliar or overstimulating environments into a familiar, predictable framework that allows them to process the environment while remaining engaged and able to focus. Prior to class each week, you will be asked to watch a series of videos that demonstrate certain exercises. During class, you will discuss these exercises with your instructor, practice them with your dog, and receive coaching and feedback on your efforts. Homework will be assigned!

This class is great for dogs of all ages and skills, and helpful for dogs who:

- Have trouble focusing in stimulating environments

- Struggle with over-arousal (jumping up, leash-biting, nipping, etc.)

- Are reactive, fearful, anxious, or worried

Class details: We will use Zoom for this class, so you will need to have internet access and a device with a camera and microphone Videos demonstrating the exercises will be provided in advance and should be watched prior to class

Classes will include live coaching and discussion

Homework will be assigned each week
