Agility is a great enrichment activity, as well as extra practice for your dog's manners skills! This class will take your practice to the next level. We will continue working on the more difficult obstacles and introduce one or two new ones. We'll also start working on handling skills and sequencing obstacles together into shorter courses. Dogs will start working short courses off leash.

Pre-requisite:Agility Level 1 class and previous Basic Manners class with Every Dog or at another facility. Dogs must be proficient in sit, down, stay and recall cues. Please email info@everydogaustin.org if you are unsure if this class is the right fit for you and your dog.

Class is on a rolling basis (you can start any week), and goes for 6 weeks.

All of our classes are taught by skilled trainers using positive reinforcement methods.

*NOTE: if your dog has significant fear-based aggression/reactivity toward strangers or dogs, or is extremely uncomfortable in new environments, this group class might not be the best option for you. We reserve the right to remove a dog from class if the situation seems detrimental/unsafe for that dog or other dogs/people in class, and encourage you to set up a private consultation if you're unsure whether class would be a good fit.

What is agility dog training?

Apart from being a fun activity, agility dog training has numerous benefits for both dogs and their handlers. Some of these benefits include:

Physical exercise: Agility courses involve running, jumping, and climbing, which provide a great workout for dogs. It helps them maintain a healthy weight, build muscle mass, and increase their endurance.

Mental stimulation: The various obstacles in agility courses require dogs to think on their feet and make quick decisions. This mental exercise can improve their problem-solving skills and keep them mentally sharp.

Bonding: Agility training involves constant communication and teamwork between the dog and handler. This can strengthen their bond and improve their relationship.

Confidence building: As dogs successfully navigate through obstacles, they gain confidence in themselves and their abilities. This can help them live happier, more fulfilled lives.

Positive outlet for energy: Dogs with high energy levels may exhibit destructive behaviors if not given an appropriate outlet. Agility training provides a fun and productive way for these dogs to release their energy.

All-weather fun: While many people do agility outdoors, Every Dog’s agility training is all done inside. This means it’s available rain or shine, summer or winter.
