Fit to Burst: Understanding and Helping Hyperactive Dogs Fit to Burst: Understanding and Helping Hyperactive Dogs
Dogs who spin through the ceiling about toys and treats, struggle to rest, run amok, and just generally can’t stop won’t stop are often overlooked. But they can be a real hazard for themselves and others, and be scary, embarrassing, and exhausting for their families. They’re also often struggling with serious welfare issues and experiencing chronic stress.
But a label like hyperactivity isn’t your dog’s destiny. It can be helped!
In this webinar, you’ll learn about the umbrella of hyperactivity, and where these behavior problems come from. We’ll discuss common training pitfalls, and how to get started with safe, welfare based solutions.
Liza Rader BFA KPA-CTP CDBC is a specialist in major behavior issues in high drive dogs, with special interests in hyperactivity and sporting breeds. Liza is the owner-operator of Focus Dog Training on the south coast of British Columbia, and works with guardians of dogs who are described as out of control, hyperactive, aggressive, toy obsessed, or just too much.
With a background in the arts and humanities, Liza uses creative problem solving to find real resolution for complex behavior cases, and they prioritize both canine and human welfare throughout all their work. They are a second generation Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever person, and live with two tollers, a Saint Bernard mix, and a very old cat.
